American on Board MV Hondius Reveals Life Inside 42-Day Hantavirus Quarantine

An American passenger who was aboard the research cruise vessel  has shared a harrowing account of life under a 42-day quarantine following concerns of a possible hantavirus exposure outbreak onboard.

The ship, known for polar expedition voyages operated in remote regions, reportedly implemented strict isolation protocols after medical officials flagged a suspected infectious disease risk among passengers and crew. While authorities have not confirmed a widespread outbreak, the extended quarantine was described by those onboard as “one of the most intense experiences of their lives.”
