“We Didn’t Know What Was Happening at First”

The American passenger, identified as , said confusion spread quickly through the ship when passengers were first instructed to remain in their cabins.

“At first, they told us it was just a precaution,” he recalled. “Then the days kept going, and nobody was allowed to leave certain sections of the ship. That’s when people started getting scared.”
