Wedding Dresses Now Côme With a Legal Waiver for Brides on GLP-1s

GLP-1 medications — originally developed to treat diabetes and obesity — have surged in popularity over the past two years due to their effectiveness in helping users lose significant amounts of weight. Many brides now begin treatment months before their weddings, often after ordering dresses well in advance.

Because most wedding gowns are custom-ordered and can take six months or longer to arrive, bridal shops say predicting a bride’s final measurements has become increasingly difficult.

Some boutiques are now asking customers to disclose whether they are taking GLP-1 medications before signing purchase agreements. In certain cases, brides must also acknowledge legal waivers stating the store cannot be held responsible for fit issues caused by major weight loss after measurements are submitted.
