Iran Seizes US-Sanctioned Tanker Carrying Oil in Gulf of Oman
Iran has seized a US-sanctioned oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, escalating tensions in one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes and intensifying the ongoing dispute between Tehran and Washington over sanctions and regional security.
According to Iranian state media, the country’s navy intercepted the tanker in what officials described as a court-ordered operation linked to allegations involving Iranian oil exports. The vessel, identified as the St. Nikolas in earlier reports and previously known as the Suez Rajan, has been at the center of a long-running sanctions dispute between Iran and the United States.
