The White House condemned the seizure and called for the immediate release of the ship and its crew. US officials described the action as unjustified and warned that such incidents threaten maritime security and international trade in the region.

The tanker, sailing under the Marshall Islands flag and managed by a Greek shipping company, was reportedly carrying Iraqi crude oil destined for Turkey at the time of the seizure. Reports indicated the crew included Greek and Filipino nationals.

The incident adds to rising instability across the Middle East, where attacks on commercial shipping and military confrontations have increased in recent months. Analysts warn that continued escalation in the Gulf region could disrupt global energy markets and further strain diplomatic relations between Iran and Western powers.
