Feeding Growing Hatchlings
Baby tortoises require a nutritious, high-fiber diet. Fresh grasses, dandelion leaves, plantain, clover, and other safe leafy greens provide the nutrients they need for healthy shell development and steady growth.
Tiny Personalities, Big Entertainment
One of the biggest surprises has been how different each tortoise behaves. Some are adventurous and constantly exploring, while others prefer quiet corners where they can rest. Watching them interact has become part of our daily entertainment.
Occasionally, all seven decide to gather in the exact same hiding spot, creating a slow-moving pile of shells that’s equal parts adorable and amusing.
Lessons Learned
Every day brings a new discovery—whether it’s a hatchling confidently finding its food, basking under the heat lamp for the first time, or attempting to climb over siblings much larger than itself.
Final Thoughts
The arrival of two new tortoises has turned a peaceful enclosure into a bustling miniature community. While caring for seven tortoises certainly creates more work, it’s also brought more joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
