About twenty minutes later, I heard laughter coming from outside.
The kind of laughter that tells you something has gone very wrong.
I walked into the backyard and froze.
Tyler stood nearby laughing while several of his friends recorded the scene on their phones.
“What happened?” I asked.
“I thought it would be funny.”
I rushed toward the water while trying to process what I was seeing.
Several cards were soaked.
Important paperwork had turned into a soggy mess.

“Come on,” he said. “It’s just a purse.”
The words stung more than the damage itself.
Mark shrugged.
