Piecing It Together
The rest of that day felt like a blur. I replayed every detail in my mind—her routine, her behavior, even the little things I might have overlooked. She hadn’t seemed upset or withdrawn. If anything, she’d been… normal.
I didn’t confront her that evening. I needed to understand what was really going on before jumping to conclusions. So I made a decision that felt both necessary and terrifying:
I would follow her the next morning.
The Truth Revealed
She got ready, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and left the house right on schedule. I waited a minute, then quietly grabbed my keys and followed from a distance.
At first, she walked the usual route toward school.
Instead of heading through the school gates, she kept going—down a side street I’d never seen her take before.
She walked for about ten minutes before stopping in front of a small park. There were a few benches, a playground, and not many people around at that hour.
She sat down on a bench… and just stayed there.
No friends. No phone. No attempt to hide.
