Judge’s 2021 Warning Resurfaces
According to court documents, the suspect appeared before the court in 2021 on prior criminal charges that included violent or disruptive behavior. During the sentencing hearing, the judge reportedly admitted she was “taking a chance” by choosing a less severe sentence rather than imposing extended jail time.
The judge cited the defendant’s age, personal circumstances, and potential for rehabilitation as reasons for offering leniency. Prosecutors at the time had reportedly sought a stricter sentence, arguing that the suspect posed an ongoing risk to the community.
Now, critics argue that the decision may have allowed the suspect to remain free before allegedly committing a series of violent acts that shocked residents in Cambridge.
