Trump Administration Remains Skeptical

Despite the diplomatic move, officials within the Trump administration appear unconvinced that the proposal goes far enough. U.S. negotiators continue to insist that Iran halt uranium enrichment and surrender highly enriched uranium stockpiles that Washington believes could be used to develop nuclear weapons.

Trump has repeatedly emphasized that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains a “red line.” American officials have also reportedly demanded unrestricted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.

A senior U.S. official quoted by Axios described Iran’s latest offer as “insufficient,” warning that failure to reach a meaningful agreement could lead to a resumption of military operations.
