If motherhood came with a salary, how much do you think moms should be paid every month?

The Emotional Labor Is Priceless

What often gets overlooked is the emotional side of parenting.

Moms are frequently the emotional center of the household. They remember birthdays, notice mood changes, resolve sibling conflicts, calm fears, offer encouragement, and absorb stress from everyone around them.

This invisible work — often called emotional labor — is exhausting precisely because it never fully stops.

Even when mothers appear to be resting, many are still mentally organizing family life in the background:

  • What groceries are running low?
  • Did the school form get signed?
  • Is the pediatrician appointment next Tuesday or Wednesday?
  • Does the child seem quieter than usual lately?

That constant mental management would absolutely qualify as labor in any corporate environment.
